we have our own shelves
Black businesses don’t need permission.
We need space. And we already have it.
We Have Our Own Shelves is a new initiative focused on supporting Black-owned storefronts through a series of community-powered pop-up events.
During Black August, we’ll be working with local businesses across Georgia to highlight ownership, increase foot traffic, and help circulate dollars within our communities.
The initiative connects four key groups:
-
Storefront owners, who provide the space
-
Vendors, who pop up inside these spaces
-
Consumers, who show up and shop with intention
-
Sponsors, who help make it all possible
This work builds on existing community infrastructure the stores, the businesses, and the people already doing the work. Our goal is to help fill those shelves with intention.
We Have Our Own Shelves is powered by Buy From A Black Business and Buy From A Black Woman, two platforms committed to keeping Black businesses visible, supported, and thriving.
*The program begins in Georgia, with plans to expand to other states in the future.
